Overview

FAMA LAB

Functional Anatomy and Motion Analysis Laboratory

A research laboratory that studies the form and movement of the human body with quantitative methods and aims to provide common ground for collaboration between anatomy, the clinical sciences and engineering.

Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Akdeniz University

Research areas

Morphometry

Three-dimensional shape, dimensions and asymmetry of the facial and trunk surface.

3D morphometric analysis of the trunk surface

Dynamic morphometry

Three-dimensional change of the facial surface during facial expressions.

3D change of the facial surface during facial expression

Kinematics

Displacement, angle, velocity, acceleration and timing in facial and joint movements and in gait.

Marker-based motion analysis

Kinetics

Force measurement in living tissue; mechanical properties of tissues and materials.

Neuromuscular activity

Surface electromyography recorded synchronously with movement.

Recording of muscle activity with surface EMG

Model production

Digital models from 3D scans and CT/MR data; physical models by 3D printing and moulding.
